With just a few simple steps, you can create an impressive Christmas masterpiece for your table. Give this a read, gather your materials and get started!
Celebrate Christmas with flowers!
Flowers make us happy. Science has proven so. And during the holidays, we take that joy to the next level. So instead of a classic bouquet, why not create your own handmade showpiece that gives you and your guests that unmistakable Christmas feeling? With a few well-chosen flowers, some branches and a handful of basics, you can easily make this festive centrepiece yourself.
What you’ll need
- Flowers and greenery of your choice. In this example we used Anthurium, Anemone, Amaryllis, Tulip, Gerbera, Ranunculus, Gloriosa, Chrysant, Skimmia, Lisianthus, Hypericum, Eucalyptus and pine.
- Long rectangular blocks of floral foam (the amount depends on how large you want the arrangement to be)
- Moss (adjust the amount to the size of your floral foam)
- Pruning shears

Gathered everything together? Then it’s time to start crafting your showpiece. Watch the video above first. Then follow the steps below.

Soak your floral foam
Place the foam in a container of water and let it slowly sink by itself. Don’t push it down. Allow it to absorb water fully. It is ready when it turns completely dark green and sinks to the bottom.

Cover the base
Start by covering the foam. Use moss and pine branches to hide it completely. None of the foam should be visible. If you’re working with several pieces of foam, place them tightly together so they form one solid base.

Add greenery
Cut different kinds of green branches at an angle using pruning shears, then insert them into the foam. Think of Eucalyptus and Pine. Spread them across the arrangement and play with height and shape.

Add your flowers
Happy with the green base? Then it’s time for the stars of the show. Cut each flower stem at an angle and add them one by one. Mix colours, shapes and heights to create a balanced result. Step back now and then to check from a distance.

A festive finishing touch
Satisfied with your creation? Add a little extra sparkle if you like, such as baubles, pinecones or small ornaments. Done? Then all that’s left is to set the table and enjoy the result!

With such a stunning centrepiece, you’ve already set the tone. Still, there are plenty of ways to turn your Christmas table into a magical focal point.
