1

Sunflower

At number 1 is the sunny king of summer: the Sunflower. This summery showstopper has large yellow ray florets surrounding a dark brown centre and can grow up to 80 cm tall. Like little suns in your home.

Sunflowers are available from June to October. Place the sturdy stems in a tall, stable vase with plenty of water. A single flower already makes a bold statement, while combining it with something like Dill creates a charming cottage look.

Daffodil

Daffodils announce the arrival of spring with a trumpet-shaped centre surrounded by six petals. Their colour ranges from buttery yellow to almost white with a yellow trumpet, while their fresh scent is reminiscent of the outdoors.

This spring favourite is available in spring. Keep fresh Daffodils separate for the first 24 hours, as their sap can make other flowers wilt more quickly. After that, you can safely add them to a mixed bouquet or let them shine on their own.

Tulip

The Tulip is easy to recognise by its neat, cup-shaped flower on a smooth green stem. Available in shades ranging from soft pastel yellow to vibrant lemon yellow.

You can buy Tulips from January to May at garden centres, florists or supermarkets. Cut the stems straight across and place them in cold water. Bear in mind that they’ll continue to grow by a few centimetres. For a fresh contrast, combine them with Grape Hyacinths or a sprig of Eucalyptus.

Rose

Yellow Roses have classic, layered petals in shades ranging from fresh lemon yellow to rich gold and, depending on the variety, give off a subtle fragrance.

Yellow Roses are available all year round. Cut the stems at an angle and remove any leaves below the waterline. For a modern look, arrange small groups of Roses in identical, narrow vases.

Gerbera

Gerberas come in countless colours, including yellow. They have a long, sturdy stem and a daisy-like flower, with or without a dark centre. Yellow Gerberas range from soft vanilla to dazzling bright yellow.

Available all year round. Keep the water level low so that only the ends of the stems are submerged, helping to prevent bacterial growth. Place a bunch of Gerberas in the same colour in a vase for a clean, striking look, or combine them with other flowers for a playful bouquet.

Craspedia

Craspedia, also known as drumsticks, has round flower heads around two centimetres wide on slender stems. Its intense ochre-yellow colour hardly fades.

Craspedia is widely available from April to November. The little spheres dry beautifully, so don’t throw them away once the water has run out. Combine them with Pampas Grass for a boho look or add them to a playful wildflower-style bouquet
