

Caring for Cosmos
- Trim the stems diagonally.
- Place the flowers in clean water in a clean vase.
- Add cut flower food to the water for a longer vase life.
- Do not place the vase in direct sunlight, in a draught or next to the fruit bowl.
Colours and shapes
There are 14 different varieties of Cosmos and all have varying colours and petals. This flower falls on the warmer end of the colour spectrum, with blooms ranging from deep red and purple to pink, lilac and white. It flowers between April and September, so is a great choice in a summer bouquet.


Symbolism
The word Cosmos is derived from the Greek word for jewel, and with its vibrant colours jewels are exactly what this flower evokes. It's also traditionally used to symbolise order and harmony, due to the flower's neat and harmonious petals.
Origin
Cosmos originated in the Americas and is a part of the Asteraceae family, the largest in the floral kingdom, which is also home to flowers such as daisies and sunflowers. It's subtropical and is commonly found in the wild as well as on display on our kitchen tables.
