Looking for an original idea for your Easter table or for when you want to surprise your loved one with breakfast in bed? How about plants in eggshell vases? While the croissants toast deliciously in the oven, you can get started with this simple DIY.
You will need
- Eggs of different sizes (quail eggs and medium white eggs)
- Egg piercer or needle
- Soil
- Small plants or twigs of your choice. We used grape hyacinth, a succulent, loose leaf of a mini Monstera, Fittonia, Asparagus and Andiathum.
- Iron wire
- Pliers
- Optional: decorative shelf, candle
How to make it

Use a needle or egg piercer to poke a small hole in the top of each egg. With the tip of a sharp knife, make the hole in the shell bigger. Drain the eggs and collect them in a bowl (you can fry the eggs later, or use them for an omelette or quiche, for example).

Rinse the eggshells with warm water and let them dry.

Bend the iron wire into legs so that the eggshells remain in place. It's best to use fine iron wire for this, so that you can easily make 3 or 4 legs from 1 piece of wire.

Fill the eggshells with soil and small plants of your choice. We used grape hyacinth and loose leaves from larger plants.
Tip: put your vases in the spotlight! Finish your Easter table by placing the egg vases on a nice shelf and light a candle for extra atmosphere. You can also make a hole at the bottom of the eggshell and insert tulips or other flowers through it.
