DIY: ceramic plant fossil

For the table, the wall, or around your neck

The season for happily pottering at home with a cup of tea and a plate of biscuits has arrived. To make a stylish coaster for your copious mugs of tea, you only need a couple of things, and if you adapt the size, you can also hang it on the wall or around your neck!

Get to work

1

Roll out the clay to the desired size and thickness with the rolling pin. The thicker the clay, the longer it will take to dry.

2

Cut out the desired shape with the cutter. A diameter of 10 cm is fine for a coaster; it's best to choose a smaller size for a necklace.

3

Now carefully press the plant into the clay using the rolling pin. Carefully remove the plant from the clay to leave a nice imprint.

4

Leave to dry. To speed up the drying process, you can place the clay in the oven on the lowest setting.

5

Once the clay is dry, you can finish it with acrylic varnish for a lasting and attractive result. Opt for a transparent varnish for a simple design, or choose a bright colour.
